The retreat is a non profit event created specifically to celebrate women in community. The cost is all-inclusive – covering accommodations, meals, workshops, etc. – everything except for what wonderful items you might bid on and win at the Silent Auction! The cost of the retreat is based on your choice of accommodation – ranging from sleeping in your sleeping bag under the stars to a private room in a Lodge. Bathrooms are mostly shared. Everyone will be asked to be a Kitchen Angel – to sign up for two small amounts of time during meals to help with clean-up/set-up.
The retreat begins on Friday afternoon with Arrival at 3pm and ends Sunday with Departure between 2 and 3pm.
All activities are optional of course – but you might not want to miss anything! There is time included to be alone and the river is right there!
All effort put into producing this retreat is done on a volunteer basis. This way costs can be kept as low as possible making the retreat affordable to as many women as possible. All workshops, presentations and activities are given by the talented and diverse women attending. We ask that women attend at least one retreat before offering to lead or co-lead a workshop.
The retreat site is safe, warm, sweet, and comfortable. Be sure to visit River’s Bend website at riversbendretreat.org for a glimpse of our lovely retreat location, along with tons of good information regarding sleeping options, things to pack for the long weekend, etc.
This is a scent, alcohol and drug-free event. Please respect others sensitivity needs. For special accessibility accommodation, please contact us by email retreat@mcn.org as soon as possible.
The Meals
The River’s Bend provides our fresh, organic, mostly vegetarian meals and snacks. All meals are prepared on site by Pilar and her staff. They include generous, delicious servings of fresh, mostly vegetarian food, with some chicken and fish (as organic and locally sourced as possible) and include an entrée, salad, and 1-2 vegetable dishes, homemade drinks, fruit, and at dinner, a homemade dessert, as well as tea, coffee, etc.
Much of the fresh produce comes from the retreat center’s organic garden. If you have dietary preferences, be sure to fill out the Special Needs/Dietary Preference section on the registration form.
Mealtimes offer an opportunity to visit with old friends and a chance to get to make new friends. Information about the day’s upcoming activities is also shared during mealtimes.
